impinged - it means to have had an effect : made an impression. My name is Chad Baron and to me, impinged means change. My life is defined by change.

I started writing 5 years ago after my life went through a very profound change. In March of 2002 I found myself in a hotel room, surrounded by family, reading me letters begging me to change. I agreed and two hours later I was flying out of Seatac on my way to Orange County, California. There I spent the next 42 days in Pacific Hills treatment center learning how to live life on life’s terms.

When I got out I moved to the small town of Lynden, Washington and went back to college at the age of 29. After graduating with a 3.6 GPA from Whatcom Community College I started my own web development business. That business has grown and changed. I still do web development but now we take a more holistic approach to business promotion. The change and the growth has been exciting.

I’ve been clean and sober now for over 5 years and have enjoyed life in a way I never imagined possible. And I discovered something along the way. Almost 2 years ago God got a hold of me in a most profound way. I was impinged by God. I found out I was created for a purpose that is bigger than myself, that what we do here on earth matters, and that the ultimate power in the universe is love. While I found happiness in sobriety, I’ve found an all encompassing joy in God. A joy that gives me a confidence that no matter what catastrophes are yet to befall my life, I know I can make it. I might not always be happy, but I’ve always got joy.

So a couple months ago I arranged my schedule so that I can spend time daily meeting with the Lord. As part of my devotions I journal about the revelations I find in the word of God. Those journals are what I’ve decided to share here. That along with occasional book reviews since I love to read. My prayer is that some may find this inspiring, thought provoking, and above all that it might facilitate conversation.
